Hi guys,
This occurs because you have over 100 products on the system. We conducted extensive research with our users before implementing this and found that users with this many products preferred this system to aid performance and allow them to quickly pick out a product.
I agree this is very annoying, especially as when we use product groups, we only have a few products in each group but are still treated the same because we have over 100 in total.
I agree
I have the same problem
This is indeed very very annoying!
As another option it could search for any word within the title rather than just the first word. This would help reduce the time wasted as more often than not you might be able to remember part of the title if not the starting letter/word
Thank you for the response. I can advise that as a user we were not involved in your research and would have not endorsed this idea.
I really don't know why anyone would prefer this way of doing things as for me it slows everything down because I have to flick back and forth between the invoice screen and settings page to search the products we need! Madness.
There needs to be some improvement in this. For example if you start typing a key word in the search box, it picks up any product with that word in the name string, Just now you have to correctly recall and type the correct first word to bring up what you are looking for. If you don't recall the first word it can be very frustrating.
Please give this some serious consideration because its simply not workable as it is
Mark - I agree that this is frustrating, and have already contacted support directly to address this, as it seems like a very bad idea.
When you create a purchase (or an invoice), Kashflow presents a list of ALL suppliers (or customers) and you can either choose to scroll through several hundred entries or you can start typing. The list is then filtered to show ANY supplier (or customer) which contains the letters being typed.
With products, there is no option to scroll through the list and you have to know exactly what the product is looking is called, as as you type it only filters with products that START with the letters you type, not CONTAIN the letters you type.
I don't see why it's so difficult for people to scroll through 20 or 30 products, when it's ok to scroll through several hundred or thousand suppliers?
So I agree with you and hope we can get this changed - or at least modified to be consistent with the rest of Kashflow.
Full keyword searching would be ideal so that any term in a product name returns the result rather than having to remember the start of every product. I have lots of different products and remembering exactly how they are named, especially on older products is a nightmare. For me at the moment this is the most frustrating part of the product and causes me undue wasted time and frustration.
Kashflow, so for users with below 100 products, the dropdown shows. I don't care what the research states, you should at least give the option to revert to the old method of product selection.
We have about 110 products... having to type to search does NOT work for our business. Why can you not just give the option for us to revert back to fully populated dropdowns if we wish??
So frustrating
I have a slightly different but related problem - when selecting a product on the quote or invoice the code for the product is never shown only the description. It would be helpful to show the code.
