a Preview button, alongside the Download and Delete buttons on the customer page when a file is added

If you add a file to an invoice you can Preview, Download or Delete.If you add a file to a customer there is no Preview option, which would be useful.

a method / facility where by it is possible to maintain a record of email sent to customers

When sending invoices to customers you are able to keep track of all the emails sent and received between the two parties. This would work for purchases too.
