the submit VAT button should be moved so it is not the first option after creating a new VAT return. the option should only be avaialble after the return has been reviewed/ approved for submission.
I can easily see reurns accidentally being submitted to HMRC before being reviewed. Remember there is no facility to amend a vat return once it has been submitted other than waiting for the next VAT quarter or by completing form VAT652!
Check it then submit
