'Aged' customer statements

Customer statements should have the debts 'aged' i.e.30/60/90 days as per Sage-style

    his can be achieved using new screens where we have implemented schedule statements - see attachment. You have the option to exclude paid invoices or exclude sending statements if the total owed is 0

    Hi Admin

    The above solution is not what is being asked. I believe a large majority of us would like to be able to manually send our customers a statement that shows all invoices due but broken down into 90/60/30 days and current, so that the customers know exactly what they should be paying. As someone previously said, I have to send my customers monthly breakdowns which is just ridiculous. Is this going to be implemented?

    Hi,

    How does this show ageing when it is just a schedule to send statements? How can we see the ageing on the statement?

    Yet again this is something that has been suggested over 5 years ago and not been implemented. It really beggars belief that something so integral to accounting software has not been acted upon in all that time.Surely there is someone who can authorise something like this.

    I am having persistent problems owing to the lack of this functionality.

    Customers do not like statements which may have 60, 90 or more days of invoices on them - they want to know how much is due with a monthly breakdown.

    I have tried to get round this by sending statements for a one month period to some of my customers, so that they know how much to pay - however, it seems that this fails completely when a customer has made an incorrect payment, so therefore an invoice ends up being part paid - yet the part payment does not show on a statement created this way, as the payment was made out of the time period specified.

    Hence, the statement is incorrect.

    I refer to Mark Dodds comment "This is a normal business practice to have aged debt on 30/60/90 overdue."

    Why can you not implement this, are your coders not up to it?

    Though in my case I would prefer a monthly breakdown!

    I totally agree with Steve & Mark, this is something that should be shown on all customer statements. Especially to those companies that allow customers 30 day payment terms.

    I am considering switching to Sage because of this.

    This is a normal business practice to have aged debt on 30/60/90 overdue. This feature not being here is one reason I recently recommended to a friend in business NOT to get Kashflow. Sorry but this is really rather basic stuff for an accounting package!

    True its sorted by date in ascending order, but many companies look to a 30/60/90 categorisation for both paying (e.g. payment terms would be 60 days) and also gauging customer debt levels (the 'debtor-days') metric. An invoice list doesn't provide this additional information without a further manual & time-consuming date calculation.

    There is already the style of report available in the 'Aged debtors' - it just needs this applying to the statement.

    The statements are currently ordered with the longest outstanding line at the top.  Are you able to explain further for me please?

    The thinking was that the customer's attention is drawn to the outstanding oldest items - terms may be acceptable at 30, or perhaps 60 days, but rarely 90, so the embarrassment would prompt payment.

    Hi Steve

    Thanks for the suggestion.  The "Print/Email Statements" functionality is to deliver the statements to your customers, we believe this doesn't need to be done in an aged order.  If you'd like to view your customers and their aged debts, you can do so from the main Customer area by clicking the Outstanding Balance column heading - this will order the balances.

    You can also use the Aged Debtors/Creditors report to view this information.
