I swapped from IRIS GP payroll system at the start of this financial year - I was told it had the same functions and was recommended to me for our payroll. I have recently been told that I can not set up NHS Pensions for our auto enrolment on the kashflow system as it can only be via NEST pensions - This makes no sense when we are an NHS organisation and MUST enrol all staff via the NHS pensions unless they are unable to join ie: taken 24 hour retirement. Until I discovered this information, I was recommending KASHFLOW to other Practice managers in our CCG. however ive now informed them of the issue I am having and they have decided not to switch as they also need the auto enrolment to enrol into nhs pensions. If more NHS organisations are signing up to Kashflow then NHS AE is essential and hopefully you will be able to allow this in the near future.
Hi Pauline.
Thanks for your feedback.
Enrolment in the NHS pension was implemented in KashFlow Payroll to work manually in the same way as Iris GP Payroll; you enrol the employee in the correct NHS pension scheme when they start their employment with you (or when their role changes accordingly). The reason for this was to allow you to determine for individual employees whether an NHS pension scheme is applicable to them or not. If not they are then auto-enrolled in another one such as NEST.
I will take your suggestion to the review board as an alternative method to manage the pension schemes for NHS-related employees and a means of improvement; perhaps we could look at auto-enrolling and then allowing you to retract any not applicable as you describe; I will keep you updated on any outcomes.
All the best
Dylan
