being able to edit invoices after the transaction lock date

Changing invoice numbers and dates after transaction lock date. A customer has not yet received invoice but paid in advance, we up date the records and are unable to because the bank has been reconciled. I understand we should not be editing payment details or even prices, but everything else should not be so rigid.
