Make comments field on bank import screen read/write

When you enter a bank transaction manually you can type whatever you want in the “comments” field.
But when importing bank transactions the “comments” field is filled by narrative from the bank statement (which is fine) – however the field is read-only so it is not possible to add to it (eg to enter the payee’s name as well as the chq number) Would it be possible to make this field read/write so that comments can be amended please?
